Comp 96317686Jesus was anointed to preach the gospel of the kingdom to the poor.  Our desire is to reach those that are broken hearted, discouraged, and cast aside.  The banner that hangs over the front of our church reads,  “In this place you are loved, accepted and received”.  We must fulfill all that this banner says to those that walk into our sanctuary.

We as a body are called to feed the hungry, give water to the thirsty and clothe the naked.  In order to do this we must be prepared to move beyond self and begin to move to the point of self-sacrifice.  Our vision is to build a Hope center.

    Isaiah 58:6-12

6 “No, the kind of fasting I want calls you to free those who are wrongly imprisoned and to stop oppressing those who work for you. Treat them fairly and give them what they earn. 7 I want you to share your food with the hungry and to welcome poor wanderers into your homes. Give clothes to those who need them, and do not hide from relatives who need your help.

8 “If you do these things, your salvation will come like the dawn. Yes, your healing will come quickly. Your godliness will lead you forward, and the glory of the LORD will protect you from behind. 9 Then when you call, the LORD will answer. ‘Yes, I am here,’ he will quickly reply.

“Stop oppressing the helpless and stop making false accusations and spreading vicious rumors! 10 Feed the hungry and help those in trouble. Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you will be as bright as day. 11 The LORD will guide you continually, watering your life when you are dry and keeping you healthy, too. You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring. 12 Your children will rebuild the deserted ruins of your cities. Then you will be known as the people who rebuild their walls and cities.

Isaiah 58: 6 – 12 makes it clear that only sacrificial giving to the poor will bring God’s full blessing.  This is a non-negotiable divine requirement.  We can have a measure of success without giving to the poor, but God’s heart is deeply satisfied with those who seek His purpose for the poor.

Merely giving occasional offerings to the poor in a way that never really costs us anything in a personal way is precisely the issue Jesus is addressing with the Pharisees and Luke 21:1 – 4.  We believe God will release a greater degree of power to impact people when we come into unity with God’s heart for the poor.  This heartfelt unity will significantly impact how we live and spend our money.

We believe poverty is a curse.  We stand against the spirit of poverty.  Poverty is a condition of the spirit as much as it is a financial condition. Our greatest weapon is love.
