A Gathering of Eagles is a grief support ministry of Southside Christian Fellowship and Hearts for Jesus, Inc. It began in May 2016 primarily as a support group to those in our church who had lost a spouse through death or divorce, but quickly grew to include those in and outside our church family who were grieving the loss of a child, a grandchild, parents, grandparents, siblings, or a close friend. Because of the expressed need, we extended our support to those who were wounded by abuse as children.
Grief is inevitable, inescapable, irrevocable, and universal. Job 5:7 says, “Yet man is born to trouble as surely as sparks fly upward.” And in Job 14:1, we read, “Man born of woman is of few days and full of trouble.” We who are grieving come together to journey down a path that will help us cope with loss constructively and meaningfully. The objectives of our ministry are to: (1) provide a safe place where we can share our deepest pain; and, (2) acknowledge that our Father, God, is the Great Healer and allow Him to bind up our wounds and renew hope, meaning, and purpose in our lives.
We meet the third Saturday of every month at the church from 2 to 4 p.m. for a time of fellowship, prayer, and ministry. We close with communion.
We invite you to join us and be a part of our group. Call me at 404-906-1475 for more information.
