SCF Intercession & Prayer

We believe Prayer is the primary way by which God's will is released in the earth. The Lord's model prayer teaches us to pray, "His will be done on earth even as it is in heaven" John Wesley said, "it appears God will do nothing unless men pray." This is a great mystery in God's design and order. When we as Christians accept this mystery as reality we are motivated to pray. The unselfish prayer of agreement with the Father's will, will produce miracles. James 5:15,16

Jesus emphasized the importance of prayer by identifying His house (place of habitation) with prayer. He quoted Isaiah saying, "it is written my house shall be called a house of prayer" Matt 21:13. Paul tells us God's will is that we pray without ceasing. 1Thessalonian 5:17 The effectiveness of a Christian's life is in direct proportion to their prayer life.

Proper prayer is our way of displaying humility and submission to the Father. Through prayer we express our total dependence on God. By prayer we ask God to fulfill His will in our life and to release His glory in the earth.

  • Intercession is the highest form of prayer. The intercessor voluntarily takes on the responsibility of praying the heart of the Father on behalf of individuals, churches, areas, or nations. The only motivation is God's will being done on earth as it is in heaven.
  • Prayers of Petition are requests made to God for specific needs. The model prayer teaches us to pray for our daily needs. Scripture further tells us God will meet our needs according to His riches in glory. Phil 4:19 The prerequisite to receiving is asking. James 4:2,3 " you do not have because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures.
  • Prayers of Thanksgiving are expressions of our love and adoration to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Thanksgiving ushers in the manifest presence of God. We are to give thanks in everything. I Thessalonians 5:18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
  • Groanings and tongues are prayers offered up when we don't know how to pray or even what to pray. Paul taught us to pray in our known language and in tongues. The church encourages you to pray in tongues daily.
  • Prayers of Confession are cries of repentance and sorrow over our sin. It is a time to receive forgiveness, grace and mercy and be reassured of God's unconditional love. It is a time of cleansing
